We Have A Great Past... |

Pictured at left in this classic
photograph from 1908 is Uncle
Dooley (with the string of trout)
and friends on nearby Linville
Mountain. Note the white liquor
(moonshine) and the mountain
laurel bouquet on the crude picnic
table. Then as now, the North
Carolina Mountains have always
been a place to enjoy life. Born in
1883, Dooley was the first child
birthed at The Yellow Moon Farm
(circa 1882.)

Our Mission…
We strive to preserve the natural beauty
of the area, along with its rich history and culture.
Owner and native Jean Taylor-Todd opened The Yellow Moon Farm
in 2003 as a vacation getaway and artists’ retreat. She
is an active proponent of heritage tourism and channeled growth
in her beloved Blue Ridge Mountains. For financial survival,
many area natives have had to sell family land to developers.
On a limited level, Miss Jean has also been forced “to
develop in order to remain undeveloped.”
When you patronize her farm, you are not
only getting a great place to stay and a memorable experience,
but you are saying NO to over-development of the North Carolina
mountains and YES to the continuation of their beauty and character.
Come alive in 2005 -- an invitation to
artists.
